Shandong Technology and Business University held a symposium on Taiwan issue and the relationship between the two sides of Taiwan Strait

On the afternoon of May 16, Shandong Technology and Business University held a symposium on Taiwan issue and the relationship between the two sides of Taiwan Strait (relations between Taiwan and mainland, China) in the academic hall. Professor Wang Jie, director of the training center of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC, was invited to give an instructive thematic report entitled "Logic and Cross-Strait Relations". President Yang Tongyi met with the distinguished guests who were present before the conference, presided over by Vice President Long Xili. More than 200 other attendees participated in the conference, including the school's cadres at or above the deputy department director level, the secretary of League general branch, school counselors, teachers of Marxist College, members of our school's United Front Work Department, representatives of student Party member, as well as comrades from the United Front Work Department of Yantai Municipal Party Committee and the Yantai Office dealing with Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs.

Professor Wang Jie made a comprehensive report of the Taiwan issue around the source of the Taiwan issue, the logic of the two sides and cross-strait relations, Taiwan's social system and "Taiwan independence" on the aspect of Chinese culture, etc, with a highlighting theme and rich contents. This theoretical and instructive report not only clearly stated the history of cross-strait relations, but also profoundly interpreted General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thoughts on Taiwan issue.

In presiding over the conference, Long Xili pointed out that Professor Wang Jie's report led us to have a clearer and more accurate understanding of Taiwan, to make more efforts to run the school open and to strengthen the preponderant and characteristic discipline construction guided by the Central Committee's policy on Taiwan. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of the Message to compatriots in Taiwan issued by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. He also emphasized that we should earnestly learn and understand the purpose of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the issuance of the the Message to compatriots in Taiwan so as to improve our political awareness and put the interests of the whole above everything else. Moreover, we should speed up the opening up of our shchool, deepen the exchanges and cooperation between our school and universities in Taiwan, closely focusing on the theme of promoting the peaceful cross-strait relations and the preponderant and characteristic discipline construction, thus making great constructions to build the open and high-level university of finance and economics featuring wealth management and to the peaceful reunification of our motherland.

At noon on the 16th, Professor Wang Jie visited college students' entrepreneurship center of our school, accompanied by relevant heads of the entrepreneurship institute and the United Front Department and had a cordial exchange with the students' entrepreneurship team.
